Went to my last Staff Call meeting this afternoon, which is another milestone ticked off. With most of the actual staff off at a conference in Bahrain it was really more of a Staff Call Lite, which has to be one of the nicest ways to end things.
It has been a gorgeous few days- sunny in the afternoons,
rainy at night. I joke that Afghanistan is trying to make it hard for
me to leave, but not even weather could really manage that. It will be
strange and a little sad to pack up and head off- this has been my home
for the last year- and I know there are people, places and things I'll
miss. I'm doing my best to live in the moment and really experience
being here now, but it is so hard, especially with everyone asking me
where I am with my countdown. (I think folks live vicariously through
those of us who are leaving; I know I used to.)
Also- Mel? Your mixtape (okay, CD, but it's always a mixtape to me) arrived this afternoon! Hooray! I'm listening to it right now. Thank you so much! I love love love the notes. Seeing someone's handwriting seems so personal.
