in which there are 39 days and one joyful girl playlist

Astronomy

Music does wonders for my impatience. I've started carrying my iPod everywhere, listening to hopeful playlists, thinking about my lovely boy, our home, about Baltimore and all the good things I have waiting for me there. Today:

  • Michael Penn: Don't Let Me Go
  • Animal Collective: Lion In A Coma
  • Flaming Lips: Yoshimi Battlees The Pink Robots, pt 1
  • The Magnetic Fields: I Think I Need A New Heart
  • The Be Good Tanyas: When Doves Cry
  • Flight Of The Conchords: Business Time
  • Joe Tex: I Want To
  • Au: Boute
  • Canned Heat and John Lee Hooker: I Got My Eyes On You
  • Beirut: Bratislava
  • The Fratellis: Henrietta
  • L. Roi- Through The Sparks
  • Sufjan Stevens: All The Trees Of The Field Will Clap Their Hands
  • Elvis Costello and The Imposters: Turpentine
  • Sarah Slean: High
  • Lloyd Cole: Perfect Skin
  • Sufjan Stevens: The Predatory Wasp Of The Palisades
  • Fleet Foxes: Quiet Houses
  • Greyboy AllStars: V-Neck Sweater
  • Michael Penn: Brave New World
  • Nas: Bridging The Gap
  • Simon Day: Even
  • Chris Knight: If I Were You

Funny that my "joyful girl mix" is composed for music mostly by boys. Hm. Sarah Slean's High is pretty fierce, though. Plus, The Be Good Tanyas' When Doves Cry is one of my favorite songs lately. And this is a pretty coherent mix, for once- not like my more random playlists. I was listening to music on shuffle this afternoon and really, there's nothing quite as jarring as going from the Goldberg Variations' Aria to Ludacris singing What's Your Fantasy (yeah, that's right, it's in the rotation).
