in which it all starts out sounding like an urban legend

It isn’t though.

It’s a recruitment pitch, actually.

My friend Jason (you remember Jason) has this friend Jen who has made this incredibly charming video. I don’t know Jen from Eve, but Jason likes her, so she’s probably pretty all right, but that’s a bit beside the point. What I do know is that the video made me laugh, and not just because I hate it when video game store guys assume I’m buying for a boy, too. (That really drives me batshit.) The whole site is worth poking through- it’s part of a contest that involves dressing up as your favorite game character which = pure geek hilarity in more than a few cases.

So here’s the pitch, because of course, there’s a pitch: go vote for Jen. It’s a cute video, and well done. Hit the "love it" button. She’s an actress- who actually games- and she’d like to get some exposure; winning this would help. (Oooh, the starving artist pitch.) Go on. It’ll make me happy. Vote for Jen. You know you want to. You can vote once a day. Please.

Speaking of voting, I know everyone in the US is registered to vote, right? Of course you are. I’m absolutely thrilled that my midtour will have me home in time to vote this November- I hate the overseas ballot. Need to register? Get on it– some states have already closed registration.
