Here’s what’s on my spindle right now:
First off: the fiber is Mama E’s c*eye*ber fiber, a 50/50 superwash merino and tencel blend in the colorway Masey. I picked this up last Saturday at Spinster Yarns and Fibers and spun some up right away, both because it’s irresistible in a sunny, summer sort of way and because I wanted to try out my new Turkish spindle, which seems pretty rad so far.

I love Mama E! I got some of her sock yarn and chatted with her some at the Homespun Yarn Party they had in March in Takoma Park. That’s a really interesting looking spindle. Similar to a drop spindle?
Is a turkish spindle used like a bottom whorl? I have a hi-low whorl Schacht that I use as a top whorl only. I haven’t figured out how to do it the other way. 🙂 I like the way you wind the yarn onto the Turkish one though. It looks like it would balance better than mine.
That spindle is so cool! Please tell us more about it!! 🙂
