I made it out of Afghanistan this afternoon.

"Made it out of Afghanistan" sounds a bit dramatic. What I mean is, Billy and I managed to hitch a ride out of Afghanistan on a C- 130 this afternoon.

I'm writing this from a luxury hotel in Doha, Qatar, where I'll be staying until we fly home next week. It is really, really nice here. I'd write more, but the beer I took out of the mini- bar is really screwing up my typing tonight. The Johnny Walker Black that i'm sipping now won't really help, either, so I'm off to bed before I do something silly.

It is good to be on my way home.
